Your Blood 

1. There's a coal upon the altar,
Before the throne of God;
It burns forever brighter,
It burns forevermore -
It's your blood.

It touched the lips of prophets:
Bound what was undone;
But the angels can't behold it:
They veil their eyes in awe -
Of your blood.

Your blood
Reaches down
To the lowest hell,
And seats us high above
God, your blood,
Is for us,
As the token of
Your covenant love.

2. Your wrath it burned like fire,
It flashed like lightning bright;
It rolled over like thunder,
And we trembled in the dust -
But your blood.

Then in the time which you appointed,
(It was always in your heart),
The Lamb of God descended,
And was offered upon wood -
O your blood.

3. Your blood, I still behold it,
And shall for ages all;
Even in the halls of Glory:
Will gaze on the unknown -
Of your blood.

Show me more while I am living,
And pure like thee I'll be;
I shall see your signs and wonders,
And overcome all things -
By your blood.
